Sitwayen App
Problem
Haitian immigrants preparing for the U.S. naturalization civics exam lacked accessible, culturally relevant study tools that were easy to understand and confidence-building.
User
Haitian Creole and English-speaking individuals studying for the U.S. citizenship test, many of whom benefit from bilingual support and simplified learning experiences.
What I Built
Sitwayen, a bilingual web app designed to support civics exam preparation through practice tests, flashcards, audio support, state-specific content, and progress tracking, all within a mobile-friendly interface.
Where AI Fits
Used AI for rapid language translation to support bilingual content in Haitian Creole and English, and leveraged Claude Code as an agentic coding assistant to accelerate development and implement features efficiently.
My Role
Identified the gap through direct community involvement and independently designed and developed the full experience from concept to deployment, focusing on accessibility, clarity, and culturally grounded UX.
Outcome / Intended Impact
Helps users feel prepared, confident, and supported as they study for the citizenship exam, increasing accessibility to critical information and empowering members of the Haitian community to succeed in a major life milestone.
