Lakay Series
The Lakay series was born after my trip to Haiti in 2016 for my grandmother’s funeral. She raised me and was the one who brought me to Haiti every summer, planting in me a deep connection to the place and its spirit. Creating these paintings became my way of grieving her loss while also honoring the love, faith, and respect she instilled in our family. In the wake of her passing, I felt a profound responsibility to understand my culture more deeply and to reflect on what Haiti truly means to me. This series is both a tribute to my grandmother and grandparents, who built a strong community in Haiti, and a personal commitment to keeping their legacy alive
